Photo frame poshak: how to choose the right type and size

A photo frame poshak is a small handmade dress that fits over the frame of your god's photo. It turns a simple photo in your mandir into a dressed, festive darshan, the same way a poshak does for a murti. Families use them for Mata Rani during Navratri, for Radha Krishna and Laddu Gopal photos, for Ganesh Laxmi at Diwali, and for daily seva all year.

The 5 types of photo frame poshak

1. Hangings. Decorative pieces that hang along the edges of the frame, like a toran. They are the quickest way to dress a frame and our best sellers. See hangings

2. Lehenga cover. A full lehenga that covers the lower part of the frame and leaves the deity's face clear. Popular for Mata Rani, Radha Rani and Lakshmi ji. See lehenga poshaks

3. Lehenga with mala. The lehenga cover with a matching mala for a complete look. See lehenga + mala

4. Choli with mala. A lighter choli style poshak with a mala. A good choice for daily seva and smaller frames. See choli + mala

5. Box frame poshak and dhoti cover. Made for deep box frames, and dhoti style covers for frames of male deities. See box frame poshaks and dhoti covers

How to measure your photo frame

  1. Take a measuring tape and measure the outside of the frame, including the border.
  2. Measure the width first, then the length, in inches.
  3. Pick the poshak size with the same numbers, for example 8x10.

Our frame poshaks come in sizes from 4x6 up to 16x18 inches. If your frame size is not listed, message us on WhatsApp and we can make one to your size.

Which one should I choose?

  • For Navratri and Mata Rani: a lehenga cover or lehenga with mala gives the fullest look.
  • For daily seva: choli with mala or hangings are light and easy to change.
  • For a deep box frame: choose a box frame poshak, because a flat poshak will not sit well on the raised edge.
  • For several frames in one mandir: hangings in matching colours keep the mandir looking neat.

Order early for festivals

Every poshak is handmade to order, so order a little ahead of festivals.
